As noted before, Monica Monroe defeated Laynie Luck to become the new WWE ID Women’s Champion at Reality of Wrestling’s Rise To Wrestling event last week in Texas City, Texas. Luck confirmed earlier this week that her WWE ID contract had expired and she departed from WWE. Besides Luck, Marcus Mathers announced on Friday that his WWE ID contract also had expired and he also has departed from WWE.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that WWE officials had considered plans and might have even had plans in place at one point for indies talent Brooke Havok to dethrone Luck for the WWE ID Women’s Championship before suffering a torn ACL injury.
In regards to the backstage reaction to Luck and Mathers’ departures, it was reported that multiple WWE talents have question the WWE ID program following Luck and Mathers departures. It was reported that their departures had raised concerns internally about the future of the WWE ID program.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that at least five indies talents were offered WWE ID deals from WWE’s recent talent tryouts but it is currently not known if any talents who had participated were signed to full-time deals with the company.
