Video: NXT Halloween Havoc 2026 Recap

A recap of Halloween Havoc bummed everyone out for a few minutes.

Six-Man Tag Team Match
Rey Fenix, Dragon Lee, & Chad Gable vs. The Vanity Project (Ricky Smokes, Brad Baylor, & Jackson Drake)

Chad Gable used to hate luchadores, but after realizing how dope they are, he’s pals with them now. Who says rehabilitation isn’t possible? Gable lost his Intercontinental Title to Ethan Page on RAW, but based on his entrance he’s over it as long as he gets to do that clapping thing during his theme song (oops). Vanity Project continue to be the best/worst heels in NXT. Best because I hate them and worst because I hate them.

Drake and Gable started things off while Booker T screamed gibberish and ran through a quick exchange that left Drake on his back. Gable got backed into the corner by Drake, but shoved his way out of it and threw Drake through the ropes. Then everyone threw everyone else through the ropes. All six got back into the ring and face off in a brawl.

Gable and Co cleared the ring of Vanity Project and Lee went to go jump on them but got his ankles grabbed. Fenix did it for him and Gable hit a briding suplex on Drake for two. They then threw Vanity Project out of the ring again and they took a moment to regroup. Exactly three moments to be precise.

During the commercial break, a wrestling match broke out and when we got back, Fenix and Baylor were throwing hands. Baylor got a tag to Drake and Vanity Project started tagging in and out. They went for a suplex on Fenix, but Gable and Lee made the save. Fenix came back with a big kick to Baylor’s head and Gable, Lee and Fenix went for a triple dive, but Smokes and Drake knocked them off the ropes.

Smokes hit a dropkick on Gable and Drake followed it up with a second rope moonsault for two. Smokes got a headlock on Gable and Baylor grabbed a blind tag. He hit Gable with a flatliner and Drake followed it up with a cutter for two. Gable powered back, but couldn’t get a tag. Drake whipped him into the corner and Baylor dragged Gable up top, but Gable countered with a belly to belly from the top rope and got a tag to Fenix.

Fenix fought off all three VP’ers and hit Smokes with a running kick to the jaw. He then ran across the ropes and caught Baylor with one. Fenix then flew from the ringpost with a moonsault, but could only get a two count. Balyr came back with a kick and Lee grabbed a blind tag.

Lee hit a German on Drake and the Gable hit a a German on Baylor and Drake at the same time. Baylor took out Gable and went up top to face Lee, but Gable suplexed Smokes, knocking him off the ropes. Lee hit a double stomp and Gable grabbed and ankle lock on Drake while Lee pinned Smokes and one of those won the match for Team Lucha Friends.

Winner: Rey Fenix, Dragon Lee, & Chad Gable via Pinfall.

Backstage: CM Punk, Shiloh Hill, Grayson Waller

Back from break CM Punk and Shiloh Hill were discussing mist and fog. Punk told Hill he’s got a bright future and Hill said that he wanted a title shot when Punk beats Grayson Waller. That conjured Grayson Waller who said that he will still be NXT Champion at the end of the night. Waller told Punk to wipe his feet and Punk said he would… ON HIS FACE.

NXT Women’s Championship
Paige vs. Kelani Jordan (c)

Jordan defeated Scarlet Wren Sinclair at Halloween Havoc by barely using the ropes to retain her title, but was such a pill that even before that match Robert Stone made this match against a mystery opponent, who turned out to be none other than inaugural NXT Women’s Champion Paige!

They locked up with Jordan sending Paige to the mat for some stomps. Vic Joseph mentioned that 13 years ago, Paige never lost the NXT Women’s title, so this is her contractual rematch I guess?

Anyways, Paige started throwing headbutts, but Jordan came back and whipped her into the corner. Paige made with the slaps and threw knees into Jordan’s gut. She sent her to the outside and then slammed her onto the floor while telling everyone that she lives at the Performance Center (aka it’s Her House).

Paige threw Jordan into the barricades and then back into the ring. Jordan tried to get away, but Paige went for a baseball slide. Jordan caught her and sent her head first into the floor and apron, trying to exploit Paige’s neck issues. She threw Paige back into the ring and dropped a leg. Paige tried to steal one with a rollup, but Jordan kicked out.

Paige elbowed her way out of a headlock, but Jordan came back with a chinlock. They ran the ropes and collided in a double clothesline. They got to their feet and traded punches until Paige got the upper forearm with a clothesline. She suplexed Jordan and then dropped her on her head for two.

Paige caught Jordan with a superkick and then hit RamPaige, but Jordan kicked out at two, shocking even Paige. Jordan drop-toe’d Paige onto the ropes and then went into a crossface to wrench on Paige’s neck. She planted her with a DDT then dragged her to the corner for a split-legged moonsault, but Paige got her feet up. She went for another RamPaige, but Jordan rolled Paige up and got the win.

Winner: Kelani Jordan via Pinfall to retain the NXT Women’s Championship.

Backstage: Sol Ruca, Wren Sinclair, Kendal Grey, Lizzy Rain, Izzi Dame

In the NXT Locker Room Playset, Sol Ruca was visiting and talked to Wren Sinclair and Kendal Grey Ruca said that Zaria had invited her to NXT, but then Izzi Dame showed up and said that it was HER who invited Ruca! She then ignored Ruca and talked to Sinclair, calling her a loser before leaving the room.

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic 2026 Tournament Finals
Noam Dar & Romeo Moreno vs. Hank & Tank (Hank Walker & Tank Ledger)

The 2026 Dusty Cup comes down to these finals, featuring two “&” teams. Hank and Tank are former tag team champions and Noam Dar has the ability to overcome head wounds. This match is a meeting of brute force vs finesse with bad haircuts all around. Neither team has won the Dusty Cup before, which will be presented by the son of the son of a plumber (or in luchadore parlance, El hijo de El Fontanero, jr.) Cody Rhodes, in a very special cameo.

Neither Hank & Tank or Dar & Moreno got an entrance, but Cody sure did! Or at least I think he did. There was enough smoke that I couldn’t really see him until he got next to the trophy. Rhodes entered the ring and shook hands with the competitors before joining commentary for the match.

Moreno and Tank locked up off the top and Moreno caught Tank with a dropkick to send him to the ropes. Tank came back with a crossbody and tagged in Hank for some double teaming. Moreno caught Hank with a kick and Dar grabbed a tag to make a cover for two. He threw kicks at Hank while CM Punk warmed up for his match via picture-in-picture.

Hank and Tank went for a double team, but Dar and Moreno moved and they collided. Hank and Tank scooped up Dar and Moreno, slamming them into each other. They went up top for duelling splashes, but Tank got cut off by Moreno and Hank flew right into a leg lock from Dar. Hank and Tank powered out of both and slammed them, leaving all four on their backs.

They got to their feet and brawled as we went to break, during which, Hank beat up Dar on the outside and Tank laid him out on the announce table. Dar rolled off of it and Tank threw him to Hank in the ring. They executed a double slam, but Moreno broke up the cover.

Back from break, Dar caught Hank with a jab and Moreno and Tank tagged in. Moreno put the boots to Tank and then suplexed Hank. Moreno hit him with a missile dropkick sending him to the outside, where Moreno flew onto Hank and Tank with a splash. Moreno tossed Tank back intot he ring and then pulled down the rope so that he flew right back out.

Hank tried to help, but Dar knocked him out of the ring and hank grabbed Moreno and slammed him on the announce table. Tank dragged Dar to the center of the ring and hit him with a splash. Hank followed up with one of his own but Dar kicked out of the cover at two.

Hank and Tank wend for honk-0honk, but Dar and Moreno caught them in duelling ankle locks. Tank kicked out of his and broke up Dar’s hold on Hank. Hank hit Dar with a bossman slam and went for a slam but Moreno kicked him in the face and Dar and Moreno delivered stereo Crossrhodes before a high/low. Moreno covered Tank and got the pin to win the 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Winner: Noam Dar & Romeo Moreno via Pinfall to become the winners of the 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

After the match, Cody did as he was told and presented Dar and Moreno with the Dusty Cup Trophy. He then said that they get the cup AND will get a shot at the NXT Tag Team Titles next week.

Unsanctioned Match
Dion Lennox vs. Cruz Montana

UFC fighter Michael Chandler is the special guest referee for this match for what I can only surmise are Corporate Synergy reasons. Montana’s new affiliation with RAW’s 946 group will be on everyone’s minds, because their backup would give him a numbers advantage over Lennox and Dark State. But as we learned with Karmen Petrovic and Bronco Nima’s Perros Del Mal memberships, what people do on their own time doesn’t necessarily translate to NXT time.

Montana jumped Lennox completely unsanctioned before he could finish his entrance. He beat him up at ringside, dropping his head on the apron. Lennox came back by shoving Montana into the ringpost and then threw him into the steel stairs. Lenox suplexed Montana on the floor and then threw him into the ring for a cover and a kickout.

Montana fought back and took them to the outside again where he went under the ring and pulled out an official Slim Jim table. He went to put Lennox through the table (or snap into it as it were), but Lennox counterd with a slam. He dragged Montana over to the part of the wall that people get thrown through and thew him through it.

Montana got to his feet and sent Lennox into the other steps. He ripped up some of the floor padding and was about to powerbomb him from the steps onto the concrete when Chandler stopped him for some reason. That allowed Lennox to counter it and send Montana into the section of LED board that people get thrown into that crumples but never seems to break.

Lennox put Montana back into the ring and choked him on the ropes before whipping him into the corner. Lennox whipped him again, but Montana came out of the corner with a clothesline. He suplexed Lennox for his Tres Amigos and went for the cover, but Lennox was able to kick out.

Lennox caught Montana with a back elbow and then drove his other elbow into Montana’s traps before grabbing a headlock. Montana broke out of it and chopped him, but Lennox threw Montana back into the corner. Lennox then went under the ring and grabbed some handcuffs (what? where do you store your handcuffs?). Chandler, clearly not understanding what an unsanctioned match is, tried to stop him from using them. Lennox shoved him away.

Montana woke up and they started throwing hands. Montana hit Lennox with a back elbow and cutter before cannonballing him in the corner. Lennox then rolled all the way across the ring and under the ropes so Montana could dive onto him. Montana threw him back into the ring so he could clothesline him out of the ring onto the exposed concrete.

Then DarkState showed up and Cutler James and Osiris Griffin took out Montana. They went to send him through the announce table when the lights went off and when they came back on 946 was in the house and walked out of the crowd to beat the living hell out of DarkState.

James got sent through the announce table by Keyes while Montana powerbombed Lennox through the Official Slim Jim Table before throwing him back into the ring for Spin the Block. Montana made the cover and Chandler made the count to give him the victory.

Winner: Cruz Montana via Pinfall.

After the match, 946 posed in the ring until the scene switched to John Cena walking down the hall marvelling at the pictures of former NXT wresters (especially Gunther) on the walls.

In-Ring: John Cena. Zilla Fatu

Back from break, John by God Cena came down to the ring. He rapped his theme song along with the audience then grabbed a mic. Cena said that NXT to him means potential and oppourtunity and he’s here to talk about the John Cena Classic. Without wasting any time he revealed that Zilla Fatu was the next invitee to the Classic.

Fatu came down to the ring (hello!) and here I had a good chuckle as he passed the “broken” LED board from the last match with Caution tape hastily gaffer taped to it.

Cena said that he feels like an honorary Samoan sometimes because he goes back to Rikishi, faced the Rock, Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa and he truly loved Zilla’s Dad, Umaga. Cena said that it was an Honor to give Zilla the chance to be in the John Cena classic because his family did so much for Cena over the years. Zilla teared up at this and it was a very sweet and sincere moment, all jokes aside.

Zilla thanked him and said that he is blessed to have this opportunity and they hugged in the ring.

Video: Tony D’Angelo

Back from break, Tony D’Angelo stood on a brige looking out at the water. That was it. That’s all he did.

Backstage: John Cena, Kam Hendrix

Then in the NXT Warehouse Playset, Kam Hendrix approached John Cena about getting into the Classic. Cena suggested that he focus on his opponent for next week, EK Prosper. Why Cena was the one to break it to Hendrix that he was having this match, who knows? But that’s what happened.

NXT Championship
CM Punk vs. Grayson Waller (c)

This match came about via facetime after Waller defeated Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc in what was definitely a wrestling match. Punk phoned in the challenge, but it’s kinda like a Major League Baseball player deciding he wants to play shortstop for his nephew’s softball team just for kicks. The intriguing part of this match is simply how they are going to end it without making everyone look like doofus’ (Doofi? Doofuses). Earlier today, former NXT Champion Kevin Owens, who has a No Holds Barred Match on Friday with CM Punk, was barred from the Performance Center in what was surely just a routine security matter and won’t be a factor in this match.

They locked up off the top with Punk getting the upper hand until Waller sent him off the ropes. Punk grabbed him in an armdrag and went to roll him up for a cover but Waller got out of it and drop toe’d Punk into the corner. Waller threw knees at Punk and Punk responded with a scoop slam. Waller charged and Punk sent him over the top rope.

Waller caught Punk with a shot from the floor and started stomping him in the ring. Waller grabbed a headlock but Punk powered out of it and threw hands into Waller’s midsection. Waller came back with a clothesline, sending Punk over the top rope. Waller went for a baseball slide but Punk wrapped him up in the ring apron and rained down shots on him.

Punk dragged Waller back into the ring and worked his midsection. Waller came back with an elbow, but Punk dropped him with a backbreaker. Punk dropped a knee for a two count. Waller poked Punk in the eye behind the ref’s back and then stomped him on the apron, dropping him to the outside.

Waller put some knees into Punk’s ribs and then dropkicked him in the face for a two count. Punk ran Waller into the corner and hit him with some shoulders. He charged again, but Waller moved and Punk went into the ring post. Waller hit a neckbreaker over the turnbuckles and Punk crumpled to the floor.

Waller shoved Punk headfirst into the ringpost and then stomped his head. He put Punk on the rebuilt announce table and Punk got up. So Waller clotheslined him and brought him back into the ring. Waller hit Punk off the thurnbuckle and then hung him up in a tarantula for a moment.

Waller stomped Punk, but Punk got up and went for a GTS. Waller avoided it and decked him for a two count. They got to their feet and traded chops until Waller kicked Punk in the gut. He went for a suplex, but Punk blocked it. Eventually, Punk reversed the suplex and sent Waller across the ring.

Waller caught Punk with a spinning forearm and then sent knee strikes to Punk’s head. Waller set Punk up for a piledriver on the apron, but Punk countered with a backdrop, sending Waller to the floor. Punk went off the ropes with a s Suicide Dive and sent Waller back into the ring. Punk went up top for a crossbody, but Waller kicked out at two.

Punk started throwing haymakers at Waller who countered with a neckbreaker. Punk came back and whipped Waller into the corner. Punk went up top and dropped an elbow, but Waller kicked out of the cover. Waller kicked Punk in the throat, but Punk came back and hit a superplex from the top turnbuckle.

Punk called for the GTS but in a shocking and unexpected twist, Kevin Owens arrived and caused a distraction, allowing Waller to catch Punk with a rollup and get the victory to retain his title.

Winner: Grayson Waller via Pinfall to retain the NXT Championship.

Owens ran away and as the show came to a close and annoyed Punk stomped around the ring and Waller gloated.
