Gladiator Championship Wrestling has announced that they will be debuting a weekly series on Telemundo on August 3rd. The New York-based promotion will air its show at 11 AM on Sundays on the network and will film in 4K via acquisition of a full production system.
The company also revealed during the announcement that they will start a series of shows in the Caribbean, with their first taking place on August 30th at A. Robinson Stadium in Nassau, The Bahamas.
Producer/director Len Davies said of the 4K filming, “I’ve been using RED primarily for the 78 episodes of TV that we recorded in the past year, and for studio based shooting, for me, they were the only choice, but the needs of capturing a live wrestling event are totally different, requiring at least 2 of the cameras to be shoulder mounted for the duration of a 2 hour plus event, and my choice to cover that is the Black Magic Ursa. We’ll be investing in 5 of those that will feed through 6G-SDI to their ATEM Production studio and through that to a live vision mix and recording the source as is the norm in a Tricaster system. Tricaster would have been my first choice but they don’t yet have a 4K compatible system, so the only element I’m missing so far are the recorders needed to capture 6 feeds, and so far I’m considering a couple of Convergent Design Gemini units to achieve that.”
