TNA is now allowing talent to take more independent bookings. The newer TNA contracts have little guaranteed money or none at all. This means that talent only gets paid for the dates that they work. TNA changed to these contracts as a cost cutting move, and also because they have been unsure of their future on TV. At this time, TNA only has the Bound For Glory PPV on the schedule and nothing else for the rest of 2014.
In the past TNA talent had to have permission to work independent events and could not appear on TV, PPV, iPPV or DVDs. Now the promotion is allowing talent to take any booking they want, as long as they do not appear on non-TNA TV, PPV or iPPV. For example, Rockstar Spud and Sanada recently worked the CHIKARA King of Trios weekend.
