Thanks to Jason Shubnell for sending in this report from last night’s WWE RAW broadcast:
First Raw I’ve been to in 10 years and first live event I’ve been to since Wrestlemania 23. Not sure how it came across on TV, but crowd was hot all night. The Joe was pretty much sold out.
Crowd went crazy for Jericho. Huge “Y2J” chants immediately. Heyman got probably the biggest heat of the night followed by Rollins (and Rusev). Awesome promo work from them.
New Day vs. GoldStarDust:
Crowd lost interest only about two minutes into the match. Went through the announcers roll call “J-B-L, Mich-ael Col, Jerry” before starting some LOUD “C-M-PUNK” chants followed by “N-X-T”. However, to the wrestlers credit, they worked the crowd back into the match and the finish got a good pop.
Holy shit is Ryback a monster in person…
After Kane/Rose, Kane came back to the ring and tombstoned the bunny! Crowd LOVED it.
Reigns had probably the biggest pop of the night. They teased a promo for his “in-ring action return” for Smackdown early in the night, so I think the crowd thought he wouldn’t be there at all.
Cena of course had mixed reactions all night, but the crowd was alive for him. Dueling cheers/boos during the cage match.
Crowd was anticipating Lesnar and went pretty crazy both times he came out. Looks like they did what they could to make him look, per usual, like a beast. Top-rope AA was pretty awesome and had one of the biggest pops of the night.
Crowd started to leave once Rollins walked back, but out came Bray Wyatt. Ambrose came out to a big pop from the half-empty arena and the two fought for a few minutes with Ambrose getting the upper hand. Not a match, just big street fight.
Again, not sure how it came off on TV because of commercials, but every match, long or short, had great work from all involved. Seemed like an overall solid show.
