Strikeforce heavyweight Bobby Lashley (5-0) posted the following message on his Facebook page, explaining why he is not fighting on the April 17th Strikeforce CBS show. While it was previously reported that Lashley was pulled because they couldn’t find a suitable opponent in time, Lashley reveals that he’s actually recovering from sinus surgery.
Rumor control. When I was given the chance to fight in April, the only thing on my mind was fighting. However, I had sinus surgery recently and b/c of the surgery, my doc won’t clear me to fight. I tried working every angle, however the final say is left in the hands of the doc. Although this is a minor setback, Im… continuing to prepare myself for my next fight… MAYbe soon!
He later followed up with:
While I’m pretty upset about not being able to fight this month, I will still be in attendance in Nashville to watch this spectacular Strikeforce card!
Lashley is expected to fight on Strikeforce May 15th Showtime event, which will be headlined by Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem (32-11-1) defending against Brett Rogers (10-1).
