Backstage Update – Why Charlotte Didn’t Turn Down RAW Angle

Despite rumors to the contrary, Charlotte did not come up with the idea for her segment with Paige on RAW. Conrad Thompson (Ric Flair’s podcast partner) took to Twitter and said that the rumors floating around that Charlotte came up with the controversial segment in which Paige referenced the late Reid Flair are totally false.

Thompson, who is Ric Flair’s co-host on the WOOOOOO Nation Podcast, also said that when Flair was speaking of Charlotte “not being able to turn the angle down”, he meant that that could have made it known how she felt and turned the angle down but felt that she’s still fairly “new” to the main roster and would have received heat for turning down the storyline. It is frowned upon when WWE taints refuse to do angles despite WWE management telling their Superstars and Divas to let them know of anything that offends them and they don’t want to participate in. Of course, they get “heat” when they do so it’s a no win situation.

During the podcast, Flair said he had no prior knowledge that WWE would bring up Reid and said he hasn’t spoken to WWE about it.
