As noted very late last night here on the website, Bobby Lashley was on the losing end of his sixth MMA fight last night at Strikeforce: Houston, when the referee stopped the contest at the end of the second round. Lashley had taken a barrage of hammerfists from opponent Chad Griggs to end the round, and was slow and shaky in getting to his feet. He was also visibly gassed and had a huge cut.
Lashley was taken to a local hospital after the fight, due to extreme dehydration and a laceration below his left eye. He was treated with several bags of fluid via IV and released.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said that the promotion would have a chat with Lashley to see if he wanted to continue in MMA, but indicated that he would love to have Lashley back. Officials with the promotion are now saying that Lashley vs. Batista is likely to happen, with Coker saying “That’s going to be up to Bobby and let’s see what Bobby wants to do.”
