The Boston Globe has published an editorial article regarding former WWE Superstar Chris Nowinski and the Sports Legacy Institute’s ties to the WWE. The article alleges that as a result of accepting $2.7 million from WWE, Nowinski and the Institute are selling out such former WWE Superstars as Renee Dupree (Rene Goguen) by forming a financial bond with WWE.
In addition, the writer of the article questions why no other former pro wrestlers’ brains have been donated for CTE research since 2013. It seems to allege that Nowinski is backing off of WWE due to their relationship.
Mick Foley responded to the article’s claims with a post on his Facebook page, showing support for Nowinski.
Nowinski also published his own statement in response to the Boston Globe article. You can read his full statement here.
