— Deadline reports that Alison Brie will star in Netflix’s upcoming wrestling comedy G.L.O.W., which was given a 10-episode straight-to-series order. It will be executive produced by Jenji Kohan (Orange is the New Black) and was created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch.
It’s inspired by the female wrestling promotion of the same name. The show is set in the 1980s and follows Ruth (Brie), a struggling actress who tries to live out her dreams after joining the titular promotion, which broadcasts a weekly series about female wrestlers. Tara Herrmann will also executive produce, with Flahive and Mensch as showrunners.
The original wrestling series ran for four seasons from Las Vegas. It featured sketches and songs in addition to wrestling.
