To the surprise of no one, wrestling was not the first choice among viewers on election night. Tuesday night’s episode of SmackDown plunged in the ratings with a 0.56 rating in the 18 – 49 demographic and 1.921 million viewers. That’s down a hefty 16% and 12% from last week’s 0.67 and 2.187 million and represents the lowest rating for the show since the New Year’s Eve episode on December 31st of last year, when the show was still on Fridays on SyFy.
SmackDown ranked #29 among cable originals for the night per Showbuzz Daily, with all twenty-eight spots above it devoted to either CNN, FOX News or MSNBC. CNN won the night overall, with all five top spots going to the various hours of their election night coverage from 5 PM through 1 AM ET.
