— The official WWE website published an article regarding Christian undergoing a surgical procedure today to repair a torn pectoral muscle. WWE attributes the injury to an attack by Alberto Del Rio on last week’s SmackDown.
The surgery was performed by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama.
Regarding a timetable for a return to the ring, “Captain Charisma” expects to be back in four months.
He told WWE.com, “I can start light rehab next week and I expect to be fully recovered in four months.”
— In an interesting trivia note on former WWE performer Giant González, had Hulk Hogan not had a falling out with Vince McMahon over dropping the WWF Championship to Bret Hart in 1993, his next scheduled feud would have been with the giant grappler. Furthermore, González would not have come out on the losing end of his feud with The Undertaker, so he could be kept strong for the program with Hogan. There was also talk of Lex Luger feuding with González, but a decision was made to not run with it for fear it would lead to bad matches, thus hurting Luger’s strong momentum at the time.
González passed away last week in San Martin, Argentina due to complications from diabetes.
