Prior to bringing in AJ Styles to replace a sick Bray Wyatt against Finn Balor at TLC, WWE reportedly asked Chris Jericho to replace Wyatt, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. However, Jericho had just finished a US tour with his band Fozzy on October 8 and is on a European tour starting tonight, so he apparently was not able to do it.
Another rumored replacement for the Wyatt vs. Balor match was a 4 on 4 tag match, which would have seen former “Bullet Club” members Finn Balor, AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows team up to take on four other wrestlers, according to Ryan Satin on Wrestling Sheet Radio. However, that idea was apparently shot down by Vince McMahon. The Balor vs. Styles match was probably the best move, in my opinion, since it feels like a huge chunk of WWE fans would not know the whole Bullet Club “back story” or care about Anderson and Gallows being there.
