ROH to Debut New World Heavyweight Belt and Update on Their Big Announcement
Ring of Honor revealed they will be debuting a newly designed World Championship belt during this Friday’s Final Battle pay-per-view event. The company recently released a video of Cody teasing the newly design championship belt ahead of its official debut.
As previously reported, ROH recently teased they will be making a major announcement regarding their Women of Honor division during the pay-per-view event. In an update to this situation, PWInsider reported this will likely be the official debut of a championship belt for the division and possibly crowning the first ever champion at the following night’s television tapings.
Lucha Underground Planning to Tape Season Four During February
Lucha Underground is currently reported to be taping episodes for Season 4 during the latter half of February, according to the Wrestling Observer.
The Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported those under contract have started to cancel their indie bookings for mid-February due to Season 4’s tapings currently expected to start on February 16th. Meltzer also reported this will likely affect those booked by New Japan Pro Wrestling for their upcoming February tour. Pro Wrestling Revolution recently announced both Rey Fenix and Penta OM have been pulled from their February 24th show due to these tapings.
WWE Trademark News & Notes
WWE is reported to have recently filed a new trademark likely related to their Tribute to the Troops show and opposed another trademark for the term “wrestler”, according to PWInsider.
PWInsider’s Steven Fernandes reported the WWE recently filed a trademark for the term “The Most Patriotic Show on Television” which is likely for their annual Tribute to the Troops show. In regards to the trademark for the term “wrestler” being opposed, Hong Kong based company Mudder Technology was reported to have applied for the trademark for use with smartphones and other smart devices.
