A new football league, “Alliance of American Football” will be launched in February of 2019, a year before the XFL’s planned 2020 launch.
What’s more interesting is that the league will be partly owned by Charlie Ebersol, who is the son of Dick Ebersol. Dick Ebersol was a co-owner of the original XFL along with Vince McMahon…
Also, Charlie Ebersol is the director of the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary about the XFL that came out last year, “This Was the XFL.”
The new AAF league has already announced that they have a deal with CBS and their games will air there starting the week after the 2019 Super Bowl, on February 9, 2019. The XFL has yet to announce a TV deal. The league will have eight teams and they’ll be announced in the coming months.
