WWE Network Hidden Gems Addition

This week’s addition to WWE Network’s Hidden Gems series is the entire October 23, 1983 Last Battle of Atlanta event from Georgia Championship Wrestling.

This event is notable in wrestling history for previously being assumed to be lost forever to time and the “Last Battle of Atlanta” cage match between Tommy Rich and Buzz Sawyer being the inspiration for WWE’s Hell in a Cell match concept. Another notable aspect was Paul Ellering being suspended above the ring in a cage during the Rich vs. Sawyer match, which later inspired WWE’s plans for Ellering at the finals of the 2016 Dusty Tag Team Classic at NXT TakeOver: Toronto.

Misc. Wrestling News & Notes

ROH announced two new competitors for their November 4th Survival of the Fittest tournament in Columbus, Ohio. They were revealed to be KUSHIDA and BUSHI from New Japan Pro Wrestling.

The National Wrestling Alliance announced that Magnum T.A. will be making an appearance at their NWA 70th Anniversary event in Nashville, Tennessee on October 21st. Magnum will be presenting the newly revived NWA National Heavyweight Championship to the winner of the championship tournament at the event.

Major League Wrestling announced a new match for the card of their November 8th MLW Fightland event in Chicago, Illinois. This was revealed to be a No DQ singles match of PCO versus Brody King.
