WWE Now Preventing NXT UK Wrestlers From Wrestling in Indies

WWE has imposed new restrictions on its NXT UK roster that will now prevent them from working for non-WWE-affiliated indie promotions, according to a report by WrestleTalk.

Several (likely most) members of the NXT UK roster were given new contracts after the NXT UK tapings in Liverpool this weekend and the new contracts have the new restrictions.

WWE previously allowed wrestlers it signed to work for most independent promotions as long as the matches were dark matches and not distributed on TV, DVD or streaming video.

It is now barring wrestlers from working for promotions that don’t have working relationships with WWE, including (according to PWInsider):

• PROGRESS (England)
• ICW (Scotland)
• wXw (Germany)
• Over the Top Wrestling (Ireland)
• Futureshock (England)
• Fight Club Pro (run by Trent Seven)
• Attack! Pro Wrestling (co-founded by Pete Dunne)

The UK wrestling scene, which was very hot a couple of years ago, has seen a pretty big decrease in popularity after WWE signed several top stars, attempting to take over the UK scene with the corporatized NXT UK. They plan to do the same in several more locations around the world.
