As noted before, Charlotte Flair’s ex-husband Riki Paul Johnson filed a lawsuit last year against Charlotte, Ric Flair, WWE, and author Brian Shields in regards to allegations of defamation made against him in Charlotte’s 2017 biographical book Second Nature. For the past several months, this lawsuit has remained in the pretrial response phase with both sides requesting extensions for official responses.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that Riki Paul Johnson filed an official Notice of Resolution on March 31st to the United States District Court, Western District of North Carolina. It was reported that this notice stated both sides were close to a settlement agreement for the on-going defamation lawsuit. This notice also stated that negotiations for a settlement are expected to be finished on April 2nd and for an official filing to the court to be made shortly afterwards.
Portion of Johnson’s lawyers official statement:
“[all parties] have agreed to resolve the above captioned matter, subject to agreement on the remaining details of a proposed Settlement Agreement and Mutual Release, upon which the parties are diligently working. The parties anticipate that these details will be resolved and that a final Settlement Agreement and Mutual Release will be completed on or before April 2, 2019, at which time the parties anticipate filing with the Court a Notice of Settlement.”
