Spears requested his release from WWE in February. He is friends with Cody Rhodes, so there was always a good possibility that he would end up in AEW.
The Casino Battle Royale will take place on the Double or Nothing pre-show called βThe Buy-In,β which will stream for free on YouTube at 7 PM ET on Saturday. The winner will get a future AEW World Championship match.
That brings the total announced competitors to 17, with four spots remaining: Sonny Kiss, Brandon Cutler, Ace Romero, Glacier, Brian Pillman Jr., Sunny Daze, MJF, Joey Janela, Dustin Thomas, Billy Gunn, Jimmy Havoc, Michael Nakazawa, Jungle Boy, Isiah Kassidy, Marq Quen, Luchasaurus, Shawn Spears
