NJPW announced yesterday that Jon Moxley will miss the opening day of the G1 Climax in Dallas, TX on July 6, 2019 and would join the tour on July 13 in Tokyo.

Jon Moxley has been confirmed as a participant of G1 CLIMAX 29. Unfortunately, Moxley will miss the G1 CLIMAX 29 Opening Day taking place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX on July 6, 2019.
Additionally, he will not be in attendance at the G1 CLIMAX 29 Press Conference taking place on July 5, 2019.
Moxley will join the G1 tour on July 13 in Tokyo.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the reason he won’t be at the show in Dallas is related to his AEW deal. Moxley’s contract with AEW means that he is essentially exclusive to AEW in the United States. “Domestically he is essentially our guy,” Tony Khan said in a post-Double or Nothing press conference. A few indie shows in the US are OK, but Moxley won’t be able to work for a major promotion like NJPW in the United States. That means that Moxley won’t be on any shows that NJPW runs there.
The situation could change if AEW and NJPW come to an agreement to work together, but as of now, that hasn’t happened. NJPW reportedly still feels loyalty to ROH, so they’re sticking with them as their main US partner for now.
