AEW Dynamite returned live this past Wednesday for the first time since early April.
AEW founder Tony Kahn stated on Twitter that all of the company’s staff and wrestlers were tested for COVID-19 and all of the results came back negative.
Florida labor union IATSE 115 stated on Facebook that they worked with AEW to re-open Daily’s Place in Jacksonville for wrestling events and revealed the measures done to ensure the health safety of all of those on site.
We reopened with AEW-All Elite Wrestling SAFELY at Daily’s Place Amphitheatre today. A COVID-19 Rapid Test was given to every stagehand, road crew, venue staff and talent before entering the venue. Portable wash stations, hand sanitizer stations, mandatory masks covering, social distancing (especially at breaks) at all times. We didn’t ask to be the first but we are and we are working to keep it SAFE!
In regards to specific safety measures enacted, Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW had everyone tested upon arrival and kept in isolation until this past Wednesday’s show started. AEW officials also required everyone to be inside the building during the show and to wear masks at all times except if they were shown on camera.
Jacksonville chief administrative officer Brian Hughes stated in a recent interview on The Luke Thomas Show that all events running in the city must have tests done for the coronavirus in order to be allowed to be held. Hughes also stated that the city has a surplus of testing kits and hospital resources available if needed.
ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reported that both UFC and AEW are staying in the same hotel in Jacksonville for all of their tapings and events for the month of May.
