Kevin Owens was not at Wednesday’s Raw taping, choosing to stay home due to the recent positive COVID-19 test by a WWE developmental wrestler, which was revealed on Monday. The story was first reported by Fightful Select.
Fightful’s report says that WWE had no apparent issue with Owens staying home and there was no pressure put on him to come to the taping, and Owens expressed his feelings and decision respectfully.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Owens’ wife’s grandfather died of COVID-19 in the past couple of weeks, so the family was concerned and extra sensitive about him working in a building where someone had just tested positive for the disease.
It’s not known yet if he’ll be at the next Raw taping, which is currently scheduled for Monday, June 29. Meltzer said that his impression is that Owens is expected back by then.
