WWE is bringing back “The Great American Bash” name for the next two weeks of NXT episodes, a response to AEW’s two week Fyter Fest show.
Announced for the shows so far:
Night 1 – July 1
– Strap Match: Dexter Lumis vs. Roderick Strong
– Fatal 4-Way #1 Contender Match: Mia Yim vs. Tegan Nox vs. Candice LeRae vs. Dakota Kai
– Handicap Match: Rhea Ripley vs. Aliyah & Robert Stone – Ripley will join the Robert Stone Brand if she loses.
Night 2 – July 8
– NXT Championship & NXT North American Championship Winner Takes All Match: Adam Cole vs. Keith Lee
“The Great American Bash” PPV name was first thought up by Dusty Rhodes, with the first PPV taking place in 1985. WWE took control of the trademark when they bought WCW in 2001. WWE used the name for PPVs from 2004-2008 before changing it to “The Bash” in 2009, then dropping the PPV altogether. The next and last time WWE used the name was for an episode of SmackDown in 2012.
