This past Sunday’s Night 2 of WrestleMania 37 featured a match between Randy Orton and The Fiend, which was won by Orton.
Fightful Select reported that the original plans for the match as of this past Friday was for The Fiend to win and not Orton. It was reported that many associated with the storyline were not told of an endgame for the feud beyond Orton being written off of WWE television for a vacation break.
Bruce Prichard and Vince McMahon reportedly were “instrumental” in the change in direction and plans for the match, which involved Alexa Bliss distracting The Fiend in order to allow Orton to get the win instead.
It was reported that while management backstage were happy with the execution of the match’s finish, talent were stated to have been very confused by it.
