Impact Knockouts Tag Team Champions The IInspiration, formerly The IIconics, reportedly turned down an offer by WWE to make an appearance at this Saturday’s Royal Rumble, according to Fightful Select.
It was reported that one Impact Wrestling source spoken to stated that WWE officials had recently contacted The IInspiration’s Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay offering both surprise spots for the women’s Royal Rumble match. This same source stated that Impact officials were interested in the idea and would have given their approval but The IInspiration made the decision to turn down WWE’s offer.
The reason for the IInspiration turning down the offer was because they “didn’t feel it was the right time to make a WWE return of any capacity because they’re happy with their current path,” Fightful says.
“Several” other unnamed wrestlers who were recently released by WWE were also contacted about appearances for the Royal Rumble. As of now, Mickie James is the only recently released wrestler who is confirmed for the Royal Rumble.
