As noted before, Roman Reigns is currently not scheduled to defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship nor compete at WWE’s upcoming Money in the Bank 2022 event this July in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Sports Illustrated’s report of WWE recently dropping Reigns from their plans for this year’s Money in the Bank event is true. WWE officials reportedly had felt that the Money in the Bank Ladder matches were enough of a selling point that they did not need to book Reigns nor his WWE Universal Championship for the event. This decision reportedly was also made in part due to the recent change to a smaller venue for the event.
One source spoken to stated that WWE officials still are expecting Reigns to compete at this year’s SummerSlam event later that month.
In regards to current plans for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that Reigns is still planned to defend his title against Randy Orton at this year’s SummerSlam event. Meltzer reported that WWE officials’ currently are not planning for Riddle to face off against Reigns for his Undisputed title at a pay-per-view event.
