Legendary professional wrestling referee Dave Hebner passed away this past Friday at the age of 73.
Hebner’s passing was first announced on Twitter by his brother and legendary WWE and Impact Wrestling referee Earl Hebner. Prior to his passing Hebner had been battling serious health issues in recent years, which included dementia and Parkinson’s disease.

Hebner’s career in wrestling spanned from 1963 to 2022 and included notable stints in the National Wrestling Alliance and WWE. Hebner was most known in wrestling for his involvement in the “evil twin” storyline in WWF in 1988. This storyline featured “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase paying off Earl Hebner to switch places with his twin brother Dave to help secure Andre the Giant’s title win over Hulk Hogan for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship on the February 5, 1988 episode of WWF Main Event.
