As noted before, Randy Orton has been out of action for WWE since this past May due to a back injury.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Orton had underwent fusion surgery for his lower back injury but it is currently not known exactly when the surgery had taken place. Orton’s wife reportedly had posted a photo on Instagram of Orton in a hospital around the time of his stay for surgery earlier this month.
Those spoken to within WWE reportedly stated that they would be fortunate to have Orton back after such a long career in the company and the significance of his serious injury. Orton reportedly had insisted when he was initially injured that he would eventually return but at the moment, WWE officials do not have any creative plans nor a timetable in mind for his potential return.
In regards to the Orton’s current contract, it was reported that it goes through 2024 but it currently not known if WWE officials have frozen his contract nor if they would add injury time to it.
