As noted before, Vince McMahon is currently dealing with new legal issues over his sexual misconduct and assault allegations. Besides the legal issues, McMahon is currently considering potentially returning to WWE in the future.
Fightful Select reported that the backstage reaction to Wall Street Journal’s recent report about McMahon was not positive based on those spoken to. One WWE talent spoken to reportedly stated that they felt the news was “exhausting” and had been hopeful McMahon’s tenure was in the rear view despite having a positive working relationship with McMahon prior to his departure. Another talent spoken to stated that they felt worried over the talent who have been recently brought back into the company should McMahon actually return.
One high level WWE official spoken to stated that they currently believe McMahon will not be returning but “it would be a really selfish move for Vince to come back under any circumstances. The reason he left, how business has done since then — it’d be really selfish. But selfish activities are what led to him leaving in the first place.”
One longtime WWE staff spoken to reportedly stated that they also do not believe McMahon will be returning. This same person reportedly also stated that morale within the company has increased tenfold since Mcmahon left. This same person reportedly also stated that they feel McMahon’s family will actively discourage him from returning since his return would do irreparable damage to the WWE brand.
One WWE official spoken to reportedly stated that the timing of the release of Wall Street Journal’s recent report was likely not a coincidence to the release of VICE TV’s documentary about McMahon on Tuesday.
