This past Tuesday’s WWE NXT Gold Rush Week 1 show was notable for featuring a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Bron Breakker and champion Seth Rollins. This show managed to draw the highest viewership for a NXT show on USA Network in over two years.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that WWE officials currently have plans for more top stars from their main roster to work in their NXT brand. Meltzer reported that one name being discussed for a potential appearance in NXT was Ronda Rousey. Meltzer reported that it is currently not known if this would just be Rousey or Rousey and Shayna Baszler with them defending their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on the brand.
Meltzer reported that WWE officials current goal is to use main roster stars to help increase NXT’s ratings for their shows after their experiment with Rollins’ recent appearance ended up being a huge ratings success for the brand.
