Chris Brookes vs. El Phantasmo for NJPW World TV Title Set for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20

Monday’s NJPW Road to Wrestle Kingdom event in Tokyo, Japan featured one new match set for the card of Wrestle Kingdom 20, which takes place on January 4, 2026 at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo.

This new match setup was a NJPW World Television Championship match of Chris Brookes vs. El Phantasmo (c).

This new match was setup following ELP retaining his title against Ryusuke Taguchi on the show. Following the match, ELP grabbed a microphone and issued an open challenge for his title at Wrestle Kingdom 20. This led to Tatsuya Matsumoto dressed in a Santa Claus costume coming out to the ring with a present for ELP. While ELP was opening the gift, DDT Pro and indies talent Brookes made a surprise appearance and attacked ELP from behind. Brookes then revealed he accepted the challenge for Wrestle Kingdom and laid out ELP with a Praying Mantis Bomb.
