The Rock Misses Out on Golden Globe Award for The Smashing Machine

This past Sunday’s 83rd Golden Globe Awards event at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California featured Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson failing to win the Golden Globe award for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.

Johnson had been nominated for the award for his role portraying MMA legend Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine biopic.

This award was won by Wagner Moura for his role of Armando in The Secret Agent.

Johnson’s daughter and NXT General Manager Ava recently reflected on Twitter about her father’s Golden Globe award loss.

This was Johnson’s first Golden Globe nomination in his acting career.

LA Knight Abscense & Return Plans Update

As noted before, LA Knight has been absent from WWE since this past December due to a storyline injury at the hands of The Vision. Knight was scheduled to travel to Germany this week for WWE’s on-gong European tour.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Knight was in attendance backstage at Monday’s WWE RAW show in Düsseldorf, Germany.

It was reported at the time that it was unknown if Knight would be making an appearance on the show, which did not happen in the end.

WWE Reportedly Interested In Bringing In Leon Slater for Current European Tour

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that WWE officials currently are interested in bringing in TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater for their United Kingdom shows in their current European tour.

Johnson reported that there had been a pitch within WWE for Slater to appear alongside Je’Von Evans on WWE RAW during the tour.

In an interesting note, the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that TNA is currently no longer advertising Slater’s match against Myron Reed for the TNA X-Division Championship at this Thursday’s TNA Impact! premiere show on AMC in Garland, Texas. Meltzer reported that this coincides with recent reports and talk that Slater may be booked for some WWE shows this week in the U.K.
