Santos Escobar Makes Surprise Return at Jan. 17th AAA Show

Saturday’s AAA TV show at the Gimnasio Olímpico Juan de la Barrera in Mexico City, Mexico featured Santos Escobar making his surprise return appearance to Lucha Libre AAA.

During the show, AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr came out to the ring and issued an open challenge. This led to a mystery person wearing an El Hijo del Fantasma mask showing up to interrupt. this mystery masked person whispered something to Wagner Jr. before attacking him laying him out. This mystery masked person then took off his mask revealing himself to be Escobar.

Following his surprise return, WWE released a digital exclusive backstage video featuring Escobar giving his thoughts about his surprise return to AAA.

“What do you want? You want to know something about me now? Six months I was away. Not one question. I show up again. Nah, it doesn’t work like that. You want to know something about me? Now it’s on my time.”

This was Escobar’s first appearance in WWE and AAA since this past July.

El Hijo del Vikingo Wins Shot at AAA Mega Title

Saturday’s AAA TV show in Mexico City, Mexico also featured El Hijo del Vikingo defeating El Grande Americano in a #1 Contender match for the AAA Mega Championship.

This match featured Dorian Roldan and Omos interfereing to help Vikingo win. Following the match, Omos attacked Americano leading to Rey Mysterio running out to save him.

As a result of his victory, Vikingo will be facing off against Dominik Mysterio for the AAA Mega Championship at a future show.

Lucha Libre AAA announced three new matches and one segment for the card of next week’s AAA TV show on January 24th.
