As noted before, WWE has been working on plans for a match between AJ Lee and Becky Lynch to take place at this April’s WrestleMania 42 event despite Lee being absent from this past January’s Royal Rumble 2026 event.
Monday’s WWE RAW show in Cleveland, Ohio featured the announcement of Lynch defending her WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Lee at this month’s Elimination Chamber 2026 event. This quickly led to online speculation of WWE might have changed their WrestleMania 42 match plans for the two.
Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources stated that WWE officials still have plans in place for Lynch and Lee’s storyline feud to continue through WrestleMania 42.
Meltzer reported that those spoken to stated that there is a reason why Lynch and Lee’s next match is taking place at the Elimination Chamber event and that their “story goes until Mania.” Those spoken to reportedly stated that WWE’s current plans for the match “all plays out to get there” in reference to the plans for WrestleMania 42.
