As noted before, Danhausen’s contract with AEW is currently set to expire by the end of this month. Danhausen had asked AEW last year to not have the option year picked up in his contract and let it expire normally which AEW rejected and extended his contract due to injury time. Danhausen had been absent from AEW and Ring of Honor since February of 2023 with the exception of a surprise appearance he made at ROH’s Final Battle 2024 event in December of 2024.
Danhausen provided an update earlier today on Twitter posting a photo of the Genie from the 1992 animated film Aladdin that featured the character being freed teasing his departure from AEW.

In regards to the future of Danhausen’s wrestling career and potential move to WWE, Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Danhausen is not the kind of wrestler that WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque would want as a top star but he could get over as a comedy character and become a cult fan favorite. Meltzer also reported that WWE likely would also be interested in Danhausen and give him a try due to he likely would sell a lot of merchandise for the company.
Danhausen currently remains listed on AEW’s roster page on their official website.
Danhausen has been with AEW since January of 2022.
