New WWE Champion(s) Crowned On RAW

Rey Mysterio beat The Miz in the final round of the WWE Championship Tournament this week on RAW to capture the WWE Championship.

After the match, The Miz ambushed the freshly-crowned champion before stomping off. Mr. Money in the Bank, Alberto Del Rio, then appeared, hoping to cash in his contract. Before he could, however, the new champion flew over the top rope onto his attacker, which sent the second generation grappler fleeing up the entrance ramp.

Mysterio, a two-time World Heavyweight Champion, had not held the WWE Championship until RAW this week.

UPDATE: John Cena defeated Rey Mystero in the main event of RAW to win the WWE title. CM Punk then returned shortly after with his WWE title. It looks like Punk vs. Cena for the “real” WWE title at SummerSlam. Obviously Punk and WWE have agreed upon a new deal.
