WhatCulture Wrestling held a recent interview with AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher and Skye Blue. One of the topics discussed included Fletcher’s thoughts about him getting to win the AEW World Trios Championship with his former tag team partner Mark Davis.
“Apart from the stuff you get to do yourself, seeing your friends and the people you love succeed — the way I feel about watching Skye wrestle, that’s almost sometimes better than the stuff you accomplish on your own. Davis, we traveled the world together for coming up to 10 years now. That kind of bond, you don’t get very often. He’s one of m best friends in the entire world and he really did get the shit end of the stick for a little while. There was a couple of injuries and yeah, he really had some bad luck. I’ve always known how good he was, people in the UK know how good he is, so to me it was just matter of time when things started to click for him. Now he’s kind of in that spot where I was back in 2023 when he got hurt. I was given these really awesome opportunities and I was able to take the ball and run with it. Now, he’s in that same spot and he’s given opportunity after opportunity and he’s smashing every single one out of the park like I always knew he would. He looks great, he moves great, he’s kind of putting all of the pieces together. It’s really rewarding for me to be able to see. The fact that we were able to be world trios champs together and get that reunion, it meant the world.”
Fletcher also gave his thoughts about the possibility of having an on-screen partnership with his life partner and AEW talent Skye Blue in the future.
“It’s something that we’ve definitely spoken about, I think it more comes down to timing and when it feels like the right thing. I never want to force something just because it’s something that I want to do or we want to do. I think right now, we’re kind of building ourselves and building our own brands. At some point if it feels like the right time to make that move, then it’ll happen. I don’t want to rule out it ever happening. I think that moment will probably come. But yeah, I think we’re both on our own paths right now and we’re pretty happy.”
In a separate recent interview with Cultaholic, Fletcher and Blue also gave their thoughts about who they believe are the funniest person backstage at AEW shows.
Skye Blue – “Claudio Castagnoli.”
Kyle Fletcher – “He’s the opposite of funny. He does dad jokes all the time.”
Blue – “But I get them. They don’t, like, go over my head.”
Fletcher – “Because that’s the point. I’m gonna go with Don Callis. That’s my answer. Don Callis. Not a lot of people get to see that side of him, but he is hilarious. He is not afraid to say the things that everyone else is afraid to say, and he is very, very blunt and I always get to hear how blunt he is and I just find it hilarious. It’s so good.”
