Road Dogg on There Were Discussions About Bringing MJF To WWE, Praise of Kit Wilson, Bobby Roode Being Potential Replacement for Michael Hayes & Someone Triple H Leans On, Chance of Vince McMahon Returning To WWE At WrestleMania 42, & More

A recent virtual fan signing event for Signed By Superstars featured AEW talent and coach Billy Gunn and former WWE SmackDown co-lead writer Brian “Road Dogg” James as the guest. One of the topics discussed included James’ thoughts about if there were any talks within WWE about potentially bringing current AEW World Champion MJF to their company and why it didn’t happen.

“Yes, a couple times (there were discussions about wanting to bring MJF to WWE).

We didn’t do it… It was always at a pivotal time and he always had something better to fall down on.”

James also gave his thoughts about his praise of Kit Wilson and how “gladly fought” for him in WWE.

“Ah! Love him. Love him. I will gladly say that I fought to get him on and we had to under — dark of night — we had to get him on Main Event a few times, so that we could show everybody that it was fun and catchy… His partner (Elton Prince) was a young Billy Gunn.”

James also gave his thoughts about if Roode is being “groomed” to be the next Michael Hayes type producer backstage in WWE and how Roode is someone that WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque leans on backstage.

“God, I hope not. He’s gotta snort a lot of cocaine to catch up. I don’t know how much grooming is going (on) but look, Bobby’s got a great sense for what we do here and Hunter leans on him so, he’s not being groomed but he’s definitely in a great spot right now.”

James also gave his thoughts about the potential of Vince McMahon returning to WWE at this month’s WrestleMania 42 event.

Brian “Road Dogg” James – “Hmm, I have no idea.”

Billy Gunn – “Oh! That sounded a little like insider. Oh!! That sounded a little insider.”

James – “Y’all are making me smile,” he said in response to it being mentioned that he was smiling when answering the question.

James also gave his thoughts about what the internal reaction was within WWE to the “Vince scandal” in regards to the on-going sex trafficking and abuse lawsuit against him.

“There wasn’t a lot of talking going on about it, to tell you the truth. I think everybody was scared to mention it at all.”

James also gave his thoughts about the dynamic between Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio in Judgement Day and his belief that the Judgement Day group has the potential to be “The Bloodline” of 2026 for WWE if handled correctly.

“I love it. I think the Judgment Day has potential to be The Bloodline of ‘26, if handled correctly. I think there’s a bunch of great players in there right now.”
