As noted before, former WWF, WCW, and NWA wrestler Billy Jack Haynes was arrested in February of 2024 following a shooting incident at his home in Portland, Oregon that resulted in the death of his wife. A court ruled in May of 2025 that Hayes is unfit to stand trial and was transferred to the Oregon State Hospital.
KATU reported that the court found that Hayes had “gained fitness to proceed” after considering a report from a certified evaluator, statements from legal counsel and observing Haynes’ behavior during a hearing held this past February.
It was reported that Judge Angela Lucero issued an order on Friday setting the dates for Hayes’ trial to take place between April 26, 2027 through May 7, 2027.
Hayes is currently facing charges of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon involving the death of his wife Janette Becraft.
