Official statement:
“TNA wrestlers were pulled due to partner conflicts.”
TNA Wrestling reportedly is currently believed to be changing their policy in regards to allowing contracted TNA talents to work on the same indies shows as AEW talents, according to PWInsider.
Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that Moose was set to perform at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s upcoming Multiverse event on April 17th in Las Vegas after getting initial approval from TNA. This appearance for Moose reportedly was recently dropped before Maple Leaf Pro could officially announce him for the show.
Johnson reported that the current belief is that Moose would have been in the ring with talents from another promotion and likely being from AEW.
TNA officials reportedly are believed to have recently had a change of heart about letting their contracted talents in the ring with talents contracted to other companies. Johnson reported that this could have a negative ripple effect on not just other events during WrestleMania 42 weekend but potentially future indies events down the line.
Johnson reported that WrestleCon’s annual Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow had recently announced a match between Ricochet and TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater, which was approved by all parties but the status of this match is currently not known.
Johnson also reported that the current word going around is that TNA officials would not want their talents in the ring with talents from opposition promotions, especially if those events could be streamed live or be taped for future airings. Those spoken to reportedly stated that the concern appears to revolved around the idea of TNA not wanting their talents to be shown in a bad light or losing to a rival promotion.
Johnson also reported that it is currently not known if this concern was something that AMC had brought up now that they are carrying TNA Impact! programming on their network or if this was something that TNA’s partner WWE voiced concern over.
Fightful Select reported that their sources confirmed that Moose’s pulling from Maple Leaf Pro’s upcoming Multiverse event despite him getting prior approval was due to TNA’s involvement.
Those spoken to within TNA reportedly stated that a scheduling conflict may have been a factor in his removal.
It was reported that those spoken to familiar with the situation stated that things appear to be trending toward an environment where TNA contracted talent cannot wrestle AEW talent anywhere. Nic Nemeth reportedly has been pushing for his scheduled match against MJF at Create A Pro’s upcoming Monumental Moment event on May 1st in Melville, New York to remain in tact.
In regards to the reason for the new policy change, it was reported that those spoken to stated that TNA President Carlos Silva had been okay with TNA talents working MLP shows but he was unhappy about AEW running their Collision show last week head-to-head against TNA’s Impact! show for an hour. This led to TNA’s show having a large drop in viewership for their show that week on AMC. It was reported that AEW running their show on a Thursday last week was a scheduling decision made by their broadcast partner Warner Bros Discovery.
