Tony Khan on Thekla Being The “MVP” of AEW’s New Signings in 2025
A recent episode of The Ringer’s The Masked Man Show podcast featured AEW CEO Tony Khan as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Khan’s thoughts about Thekla being the “MVP” of AEW’s new talent signings in 2025.
“I think when you look at the champions on the women’s side, I would say absolutely Thekla would be … the MVP of the new arrivals as world champion. And she’s been fantastic.
When [Thekla] arrived, she had a goal of winning the world title, but the very first thing she did was go after Jamie Hayter. And Jamie Hayter been a huge part of AEW, one of our most popular stars, a former world champion. And Jamie Hayter versus Thekla I think is a really compelling, exciting rivalry, and I’m excited for their match this weekend at AEW Dynasty. I think Thekla’s been a huge part of the company on the women’s side.”
Khan also gave his praise of the current AEW World Trios Champions Mistico & JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & “Speedball” Mike Bailey) being “fantastic signings” for AEW.
“All three of them. They represent very different places in their careers, different experiences, different backgrounds, but three great wrestlers that we’ve signed in the past year in Mistico and Speedball Bailey and of course the Jet Kevin Knight. I can’t believe those two have only been around for a year. I’m the biggest Speedball fan in the world. They’ve had an incredible run.”

Darby Allin Comments on AEW Locker Room Being “You Just Gotta Keep The Egos In Check, This Is A Team Effort”
TMZ Sports held a recent interview with Darby Allin. One of the topics discussed included Allin’s thoughts about the current state of AEW’s locker room and how it is a team effort to help make AEW successful and keeping egos in check.
“I just feel like as long as everybody can keep the egos in check and actually understand that this is a team effort, and if you just take your ego out of the equation… dude, honestly, that’s the only thing that’s going to hold anybody back. To me, that’s not ever what AEW was built on. It was never built on, ‘Hey, I want to be this A-list celebrity.’ It was always built on, ‘Hey, I just want to give the best pro wrestling.’ Because to me, I look back at the ’80s and everything, and you see the stuff that, say, Tiger Mask and Dynamite Kid were doing in Japan. The fact that we’re able to do our version of wrestling on national TV in the US, and it’s not like – because, at the time, New Japan also, way back like in 2014, the in-ring wrestling was so amazing, but it was in Japan. But now that the fact that type of wrestling is in the US every single week, that’s what the beauty of AEW is to me is that we can actually form our version of this art on national TV every week. So, it’s nothing that I take for granted, and yeah, you just gotta keep the egos in check, man. That’s all you got to do.”
Alex Windsor Comments on Her Reason Why She Chose To Sign with AEW
A recent episode of the Casual Conversations with The Classic podcast featured Alex Windsor as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Windsor’s thoughts about why she chose to sign with AEW in 2025.
“I think it was a great, not alternative to WWE, but I just think how it looked. I can imagine, obviously, like I said, I hadn’t really seen wrestling before. I can imagine if… if I saw an AEW show as, as a fan, as a kid, and that was my first introduction to wrestling, I would want to be a wrestler after watching it. I just think how it’s presented, how the matches are- I just think as a company, it embodies what great wrestling is. So I just think whether you’re a fan or a wrestler who’s, aspiring to get signed somewhere. I just think AEW is the place that again, it, it doesn’t lie like, it’s where the best wrestle and I just think as a company that’s how it comes across, and that’s, I think, anyone who wants to to be anything in wrestling, honestly, I think it is the company to go for.”
