Randy Orton Reportedly “Hurting” Heading Into WrestleMania 42

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that Randy Orton is currently “hurting” in regards to his health status ahead of his weekend’s WrestleMania 42 event in Las Vegas. Nevada.

Meltzer reported that Pat McAfee’s promo on the April 10th episode of WWE SmackDown about him leaving WWE forever if Orton were to lose to Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship would seem to indicate that Orton is not losing but those spoken to stated that this happening is not a lock.

Meltzer speculated that it would make no sense for Orton to win the title at WrestleMania if he has to take time off to heal right afterwards but McAfee’s promo came off as being as close of a lock of Orton winning as possible.

Meltzer also reported that WWE officials still have the tag team match of Jelly Roll & Cody Rhodes vs. Pat McAfee & Randy Orton is still scheduled to headline the Backlash 2026 event on May 9th in Tampa, Florida.
