John Cena Kicks Off WrestleMania 42

Saturday’s WWE WrestleMania 42 Night 1 event at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada featured John Cena officially kicking off this year’s event as the host.

At the start of the show, Cena came out to the ring and talked about how the road to WrestleMania has been chaotic, unpredictable, vocal, and polarizing. Cena continued stating that it was a great honor for him to welcome everyone to WrestleMania and it was now time to see who would step up and seize the moment.

The Vision Turns Heel on IShowSpeed & Speed Gets Payback on Logan Paul

Saturday’s WWE WrestleMania 42 Night 1 event also featured The Vision’s Logan Paul and Austin Theory turning heel on IShowSpeed and Speed getting payback on Paul.

Following LA Knight & The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) victory over The Vision & Speed in a Six-Man Tag Team match, Knight and The Usos left the ring in celebration. Paul then confronted Speed and blamed him for costing him and Theory’s win for their WrestleMania moment. Paul then laid out Speed with a right hand punch and tossed him out of the ring. Paul then cleared off the Spanish commentary table and placed Speed on it. Paul then went back into the ring and went to the top rope only to be stopped by Jey Uso and got laid out by The Usos who came back out to save IShowSpeed. Knight came back out as well and checked on Speed and put him back in the ring.

After some words, Knight went back out of the ring and attacked Paul placing him on the table. Speed then went to the top rope and hit a Frog Splash to Paul through the table.

The Usos, Knight, and Speed then all celebrated in the ring and Jey Uso told production to run back his music for the Yeet dance celebration.

Paige Makes Surprise Return & Replaces Nikki Bella in Women’s Tag Titles Match

Saturday’s WWE WrestleMania 42 Night 1 event also featured Paige making her surprise return to WWE.

Prior to the start of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Fatal Four way match, Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, Lyra Valkyria, & Bayley, and The Irresistible Forces (Lash Legend & Nia Jax) all came out for their entrances one after another. The Bellas’ Nikki & Brie Bella came out next with Nikki walking with the assistance of a crutch and holding a microphone. Nikki stated that she tried her best but was unable to get medically cleared to compete in time. Nikki continued stated that she didn’t want to ruin Brie’s WrestleMania moment and called an “old friend” to replace her. This led to Paige’s music playing and her coming out to the ring to a loud ovation from the crowd.

This was Paige’s first appearance in WWE since June of 2022.

Paige & Brie Bella Wins WWE Women’s Tag Titles

Saturday’s WWE WrestleMania 42 Night 1 event also featured Paige & Brie Bella defeating Lyra Valkyria & Bayley, Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, and The Irresistible Forces to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

This was Paige and Bella’s first ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship victory as a team in their WWE careers.
