The Daily Express US held a recent interview with AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla. One of the topics discussed included Thekla’s thoughts about her getting death threats from wrestling fans after her attack angle with Stardom President Taro Okada and storyline firing in Stardom.
“When the death threats came in and everybody was like, ‘Hey, somebody call the police, she needs to leave the country,’ and people started spitting at me at the shows. I was like, ‘Oh my God, I think this is actually really working.’”
Thekla also gave her thoughts about her preference for being a heel for her wrestling career.
“I just love being a little prick,” she said. “I call everybody dumb b——, you know,” she said, laughing. “And people are just like, yes.”
Thekla also gave her thoughts about the big success she and WWE’s Gunther have had in their wrestling careers considering both of them coming from Austria that has very little of a wrestling scene.
“What are the odds that we both come from a very small country with basically no wrestling scene? What are the odds that that two people make it this far, him and WWE and me and AEW? It’s it’s really remarkable.”
