As noted before, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley will not be renewing his Legends contract with WWE and has parted ways with the company over his issues with the company’s continued association with President Donald J. Trump. Foley had stated that his final straw was the tasteless comments made by Trump on social media following the murder of legendary director Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle this past December and WWE being quiet over the matter.
The Takedown on SI’s Jon Alba reported that his sources stated that AEW CEO Tony Khan and AEW officials have expressed “real” interest in potentially working with Foley this year. Alba reported that the capacity of this potential working relationship is currently not known.
Alba reported that it is currently not known if AEW would be interested in signing Foley or this would simply just be a one-off type appearance for him in the company.
Alba also reported that one source spoken to stated that they wouldn’t be surprised if Foley showed up at AEW’s Double or Nothing 2026 event later this month due to it being held in Foley’s home state of New York.
Alba also reported that it is currently not known what is the extent of any conversation between the two parties beyond the initial inquiry.
