WWE Shareholder Lawsuit Against Vince McMahon Over His WWE Return in 2023 & Sale to Endeavor Update – McMahon’s Lawyers Defend His Usage of Signals & Alleged Missing Messages

As noted before, a group of WWE shareholders filed a lawsuit in November of 2023 against former TKO and WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon over claims that McMahon had engaged in a “sham sale process” for WWE’s sale to Endeavor. WWE directors and officers were ordered by the court this past December to turn over documents related to federal investigations into McMahon’s conduct. McMahon, WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE President Nick Khan, and others have also been accused of destroying evidence related to the lawsuit. A judge had ruled this past March for redactions in the lawsuit to be removed.

Bloomberg Law reported that McMahon’s lawyers stated in a court hearing on Wednesday before the Delaware Chancery Court that there is no gap in communications to be concerned with and claimed that McMahon is “a prolific texter” with 22,000 messages from multiple platforms having already been provided to investigators.

McMahon’s lawyers comments were in reference to a Signals text messaging app that him and other WWE executives have been accused of destroying evidence related to their internal discussions about WWE’s sale to Endeavor process at the time.

It was reported that McMahon’s attorneys preserved data from his personal devices even after they were seized by federal authorities investigating sexual misconduct allegations against him. It was also reported that Signal data that had been sought by investors was not available for retrieval until after those devices were returned in October of 2025.

It was reported that “the investors argue messages apparently missing from chats on Signal, an encrypted platform that can be set to have content disappear, could’ve been relevant to the litigation.“

Eric Leon of Latham & Watkins LLP, who is representing WWE and others named in the lawsuit, stated “These parties negotiated this deal really the old fashioned way. They did it with dinners and lunches, and they did it over the phone, and we produced all of the phone records.”

WWE’s shareholders lawsuit is currently scheduled to go to trial this June.
