CBS Sports’ SHAK Wrestling held a recent interview with MJF. One of the topics discussed included MJF’s thoughts about his belief that WWE is behind the recent rumors about AEW’s uncertain future with Paramount Skydance once their acquisition deal of Warner Bros Discovery goes through in order to make AEW look bad.
“TKO, WWE, what have you, their job is to make themselves look great and to make us look bad. So there’s a leak. Oh, ‘AEW is struggling to get a TV deal.’ That’s f—ing news to me, bro. Like that’s news to me. That’s news to everybody on the roster. It’s damn sure news to Tony Khan because last time I checked, they’re f—ing over the moon with us right now.
You know, we do better numbers than f—ing almost everything that’s going on on a weekly basis on cable because right now, as I was saying, the things that draw on cable are news and live sport.
I’ve said it once, I’ll say it a million times, Shak, I love Jolly Old Saint Nick (Khan) and I love the tricks he’s pulling out. I f—ing get it. It’s smart, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t use our brains, right? It doesn’t mean that we can’t go, ‘Oh, this is being leaked intentionally to hurt the company that is the alternative.’
It’d be like if Coke out of the blue was like, ‘Hey, I don’t know if you guys knew about this, but Pepsi has a– water in it.’ Everybody be like, ‘Well, I mean, where is that source coming from? It’s coming from Coke.’ Okay, I’m not really going to give much thought to this, right?”
MJF also gave his thoughts about his belief that a lot of people are disenfranchised with WWE and TKO Group and how AEW’s year of 2026 so far has been mostly positive in comparison.
“It’s so important for there to be an alternative and this is one of the reasons why wrestling fans should be rooting for us, and they are. I mean, we’re white hot right now. A lot of people, with love and respect, are pretty disenfranchised with WWE and TKO. I think one of the reasons why we’re white hot is because people are like — we had a black eye at AEW for a little bit because some B.S. went down and we don’t need to get into it. We know what the B.S. is, right? There was a lot. Since then, because of what happened, it’s AEW bad, AEW bad. 2026 is the first time, genuinely, where I’m seeing AEW good across the board and if there’s anyone left saying AEW bad, it’s because you’re focused on what’s transpired in the past. That has not transpired in so long. We have the most talented roster, we have the best wrestling show. When it comes to pay-per-views, nobody does it like us. It’s not even f*cking close, okay? We’re white hot right now, not just because people are disenfranchised with WWE, but because we’re putting on incredible professional wrestling shows.”
In a separate recent interview with TV Insider, MJF gave his thoughts about the importance of his hair and denied the rumors from some people that his hair is not real.
“Look, my hair means everything to me. I have broken just about every record in the history of my company. A part of the reason I’m able to sell so many tickets and get so many eyeballs on the product is because of the way I look. MJF should not have even one stray hair come off his head because MJF is the golden goose of All Elite Wrestling. If my head gets shaved bald, AEW’s stock goes down dramatically. This isn’t just about me or as Darby would say my vanity. This is about professionalism, my career, my livelihood. I’m not going to walk around bald. I can’t think of a worse fate. It’s not going to happen. I don’t even like talking about it quite frankly. I resent people that claim my hair isn’t real. That’s absurd. My hair is very real. Just as real as my Dynamite Diamond ring, my mansion, and as real as my very hot flexible wife.”
MJF also gave his thoughts about the potential of AEW holding an event at Madison Square Garden in the future and his belief that AEW could “easily” sell out the venue for it.
“That’s my Mecca. I know we’d sell it out easy. It would be a joke, especially if I’m in the main event. That’s a big goal of mine to wrestle in MSG. I’ve managed to accomplish the old checklist in this industry, but the scary thing is I’m doing a speed run. There is not much left. MSG is definitely on that list.”
In a separate recent interview with Jon Alba, MJF gave his thoughts about hie belief that WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley was the blueprint for what Darby Allin is now in AEW and wrestling.
“I think Mick Foley is fat and he’s ugly, and I think he was the blueprint of what Darby Allin is now, which makes me hate him even more. That’s what I think of Mick Foley.”
In a separate recent interview with The Ariel Helwani Show, MJF gave his thoughts about former WWE tag team New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston) potentially joining AEW in the future.
“Yeah, absolutely. I don’t know what their contract situation is, but whenever they are legally allowed to come over, I think those are guys that would be incredible additions to the AEW roster. They are both crazy talented, massive stars, and guys who know their worth, which to me is the most impressive thing.”
MJF also gave his thoughts about his issues with TNA President Carlos Silva over him being responsible for pulling TNA talents from indies bookings if they had matches against AEW talents including himself over the company’s new talent restrictions for outside bookings.
“The truth is, he didn’t want AEW talent to go against TNA talent because he thought my boss intentionally put Collision on the same night as TNA, even though every single year during a specific season, we get pushed to Thursdays. He thought we intentionally asked Warner Brothers Discovery. We were preempted. He didn’t know that. Because he didn’t know that, he got offended and then pulled a couple of matches off. I was offended because A, you’re taking a match away from me that I was looking forward to. I was looking forward to beating the shit out of Nic Nemeth. B, you’re taking money out of people’s pockets. I was a little upset. I have been informed that this guy is getting smart to the business. He’s fairly green and new, and he’s learning on the job. I’ve been told he’s a good guy. I pumped the brakes a little bit on Carlos Silva. He’s learning on the job.”
MJF also gave his thoughts about how if he has been surprised over well CM Punk has been doing in WWE since his firing from AEW in 2023.
“No, I’m not surprised at how good he is doing. Doesn’t change the fact that he’s a fucking cunt. He just sucks. He’s a bad guy, but he’s an incredible professional wrestler. I’m not going to take that away from him. He’s a piece of shit, but he’s a great wrestler.”
