WWE Hall of Famer and NXT commentator Booker T has been noticeably absent from WWE’s NXT shows since the July 16th episode due what was stated to be a “much deserved vacation break” by NXT lead commentator Vic Joseph.
A recent episode of The Hall of Fame with Booker T & Brad Gilmore podcast featured Booker T providing an update on his current abscense from WWE’s NXT brand. Booker T revealed that the real reason for his abscense was due to an undisclosed family-related issue. Booker T also stated that he will be returning to NXT’s commentary team for tonight’s show.
“For me, let’s get the elephant out of the room. People have been asking, you know, ‘Where has Booker T been?’ And I must say, man, I ain’t going to sit here and try to sugarcoat it or anything like that. Booker T has issues just like anybody else, and I have a huge family. I’m the youngest of eight
When something happens in your family, family comes first. Everything stops. For me, I always said, being the youngest of the family, it’s my responsibility to make sure I step up and be there at all times. And for me, I had just been dealing with some family stuff that I had to take a step back and deal with it and then get back to work, because I cannot deal with things without working at the same time. It’s one of those things where I got to keep my mind going. But, nah, that’s all it’s been, man. I feel good. There’s nothing wrong with me. I’m fine. I’m perfectly fine. My health is great… I feel good but I’m getting back to work [on Tuesday]. I’ll be back at the desk with my man Vic Joseph, and we’re going to get out there and do it like it’s supposed to be done, have some fun.”
