Pre-show Arrivals

We open the show with a look at Dallas, followed by the arrivals of some of the key players for tonight’s lineup along with Penta, as the Intercontinental Champion will be keeping an eye on the No. 1 Contender’s Gauntlet Match tonight.

In-Ring: Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman, Oba Femi

From there we go to ringside, where the crowd pops big for the arrival of Brock Lesnar. Lesnar is not only accompanied by Paul Heyman but a small detail of police (some of whom probably worked the local indy show this past weekend…sorry, let’s move on) as they wait at ringside to presumably keep Oba Femi away. Lesnar and Heyman circle the ring before entering through the ropes. Scattered through the cheers, however, is a chant for Oba as we see Heyman has a mic in hand.

He introduces himself and Lesnar to a big reaction from the crowd. Paul also calls to our attention the cops out at ringside, who get boos (there’s a joke here somewhere, I just can’t put my finger on it…never mind). Heyman says the cops are out here because of Oba Femi…which gets a big chant from the fans in Dallas. He addresses that Femi turned down a guaranteed title shot at either champion because he’s that obsessed with Brock Lesnar.

He claims that it is stalker level territory, and he’s not only a stalker but the big dummy. A really, really, really BIG Nigerian dummy that turned a title shot down because he’s acting like a psycho ex-girlfriend going after Brock Lesnar.

Paul has to be honest, he’s used to people being obsessed with Brock Lesnar, they all want that shootout at the OK Corral. Then they talk s–t and get hit, and suddenly they aren’t obsessed with Brock Lesnar. He says that what’s less common is Brock being obsessed with someone the way he is with Oba Femi.

Heyman’s talked to Brock while he was out hunting, asking how the hunt was going, and Brock would tell him he can’t wait to get into the ring with Oba Femi, or even during training the same thing comes up. It’s to the point where these two could bring something that Dallas is used to…violence.

That said, Paul states that while the two may be willing to fight any time including tonight, he wants to protect his money…so he reached out to a judge here in Dallas that his father new, pulling in more than one favor, and got a restraining order to ensure no contact would be made between the two before SummerSlam. He’s sure that Brock will be good with that as this Beast is a law-abiding citizen…and this is all interrupted by the arrival of Oba Femi, as the crowd chants while he heads down the ramp. Meanwhile. the cops enter the ring and stand in front of Brock and Paul.

Oba enters the ring with a mic of his own, saying he came out here for a fight but first he’s willing to give them a chance to explain what all this is. Paul explains that he is in violation of a restraining order, and tells the cops to do their job as the pair leaves the ring. This only gets Oba fired up as he lays into the police squad, clearing them out of the ring before sending one of them over the top rope over the rest of the group.

He picks the mic back up, calling out Brock about these games like the running and the low blows and now this. Brock used to run this place but now all he does is run away. There is no running away from The Ruler, there is no running away from Oba Femi!

He poses for the crowd as we cut to a video package taking a look at the rise of the faction known as The Shield, reminding us of the history between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns as they get ready to face off at SummerSlam for the World Heavyweight Championship.

We also get some hype for Jalen Brunson accepting Roman’s invitation to attend Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend at Madison Square Garden.

IYO SKY vs. Roxanne Perez

Heading back to ringside where IYO SKY makes her entrance for our first match of the night. Up next, she takes on Roxanne Perez!

We take a took back at what went down last week between IYO SKY and the ladies of the Judgment Day, as she faces Liv Morgan at SummerSlam for the Women’s World Championship. Back at ringside, Roxanne Perez is accompanied by Liv Morgan as she makes her entrance to get this match underway!

The two trade strikes back and forth with Roxanne getting an early advantage, getting a nearfall before SKY counters for a two count of her own. The fight spills to the apron as they fight for position, with SKY dropping Perez on the apron with a body slam before taking her down to the floor with an Asai moonsault.

She brings Roxanne back into the ring but is tripped up by Liv while the ref is distracted, and this allows Perez to take control as we go to a commercial break.

Roxanne has IYO in the corner, propped up on the turnbuckle before SKY fights her off. This sets her up for a moonsault, but Perez is up to keep her from going for it. IYO is now in a tree of woe as Roxanne goes after her knee. She knocks SKY off the turnbuckle, going for a moonsault…that lands onto the legs of IYO! Both women are up now as SKY regains control, culminating in a double stomp and a double underhook into a backbreaker.

She favors her knee as she goes for the cover, and Roxanne kicks out at two. IYO heads to the corner, setting up for a missile dropkick that sends Perez to the mat. She poses for the crowd while Perez is stuck in the corner…but she dodges the Bullet Train Attack! She goes after the leg for a modified calf crusher…but IYO counters into a crossface!

She steps over Roxanne on the way to the corner, setting up for a moonsault as Liv gets on the apron to distract the ref. Raquel tries to attack SKY to no avail, as Perez knocks her down for a roll up. She gets a two count before IYO counters, holding the tights just enough to keep her down for the win!

Winner: IYO SKY via Pinfall.

No time to celebrate as Liv and Raquel slide into the ring, laying into SKY after Perez lands a chop block on the injured leg. Out comes Sol Ruca for the save, but it doesn’t take long for Judgment Day to beat her down as well leading to Raquel sending her into the ring post with a loud thunk on a powerbomb.

We cut to a look back at SmackDown on Friday, where Royce Keys found himself at odds with Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu. In the midst of all this we see Solo Sikoa looking for some revenge, and Jacob nearly crushes him in the corner before deciding to just give out to him instead before leaving the ring.

In-Ring: The Vision, Alpha Academy

We head back to ringside as The Vision makes their entrance, along with Maxxine Dupri. They will be holding a championship celebration up next.

WWE hypes the free to attend SummerSlam Takeover in Minneapolis before we cut to a look back at The Vision winning the World Tag Team Championship back last week, thanks in part to the help of Maxxine Dupri. Logan Paul has the mic (and I almost wish I could be watching anything else right now) as he tells the crowd to give it up for the new tag champs, The Vision. And we couldn’t have done it without our newest member, the Queen, Maxxine Dupri. Maxxine starts to speak (and struggling with audio levels) as Akira Tozawa and Otis make their way out to the ring.

Tozawa asks Maxxine if they can talk, leading to a discussion as the crowd chants for Otis. The Vision agree to leave the ring as Akira asks her what she’s doing. This isn’t her, because she knows and this guy (Theory) is not good for you. Maxxine says she still loves them, but she didn’t have a choice as the crowd boos loudly.

She says that they don’t even know Austin, but Otis cuts in to say he told Maxxine that Theory was bad news. She continues to insist that he’s not so bad, as Otis says he has something to get off his chest. We can hear The Vision mocking Otis as he tries to be earnest with Dupri, and Theory asks if Otis is trying to confess his feelings for Maxxine.

He claims that guys like Otis can never get with girls like Maxxine, running Otis down verbally before Otis pulls him into the ring the hard way! He sends him into the corner for some revenge until Bron Breakker attacks him from behind. He ends up sending Breakker out of the ring before turning his attention to Theory in the corner.

Maxxine intervenes, talking to Otis about wishing he’d said something sooner before she almost gives him a kiss…only for Otis to get hit with a low blow by Theory! Maxxine mocks Otis for thinking he had a chance with her as Theory continues to attack him…before Tozawa goes after him! This doesn’t last long as he’s pulled away, allowing Breakker to hit him with a spear. The beatdown continues before The Vision stand tall over the Alpha Academy, and the group leaves to head up the ramp as we cut away.

Jimmy Uso vs. Royce Keys

We come back to ringside where a match is already underway!

As this rematch from SmackDown gets started we see how it got started during the break, as Keys blindsided Jimmy at ringside and Pearce made the match official. Back in the ring, Jimmy is slowly regaining control before Royce drops him with a shoulder tackle. The fight spills to the outside, where Keys lays into Jimmy some more before charging at him…only to be sent onto the announce table with a back body drop!

Royce is down as Jimmy is recovering as we go to commercial break.

Back from break, the two trade strikes in the ring before Jimmy hits the ropes…only to run into a powerslam by Royce for a two count. We get a split view of Jacob Fatu arriving in the parking area (way missing call time) as Jimmy starts to fight back before being hit for a two count. We see Jacob making his way to ringside…where he attacks Royce, forcing the ref to call for the bell to end the match!

Winner: Royce Keys via Disqualification.

Fatu leaves the ring, grabbing a chair from the timekeeper area as he continues to beat down Royce…until Solo comes to the ring with a mic, telling Fatu to stand down. He tells Jacob that he was lost, trying to find his own way, but he understands now and is ready to come back to the family. He puts a finger up for his OTC as Jimmy and Jacob join him…only for Sikoa to drop Jimmy with a Solo Spike!

He starts to fend them both off before being laid out by Fatu, a beatdown that extends back to Keys until LA Knight comes out for the save. The Bloodline retreat out of the ring and up the ramp, as Knight grabs the mic to call them out. He’s tired of dealing with them, telling them to bring “The Unfortunate Event” Jey Uso as he realizes he doesn’t need to deal with them alone. He can team with Royce Keys and even Solo Sikoa, and he tells the Bloodline to meet them at SummerSlam. YEAH!

Backstage: The Vision, Paul Heyman

Backstage, The Vision brag about what they did to Otis and Tozawa. He gives all three men their props as well as Maxxine, but when Austin asks if Heyman is coming with them to celebrate Paul says that Dupri did such a great job, what do they need him for? He walks off, leaving us with a confused Vision as Raw moves on.

We get a video package highlighting the return of Hell in a Cell when Brock Lesnar faces Oba Femi at SummerSlam.

Backstage: Adam Pearce, Oba Femi

Backstage, Femi talks to Pearce who reveals that the restraining and the cops were not real, which Oba says means they’re scared. If they think what he did a few weeks ago was bad, wait until they see what he does inside Hell in a Cell. He walks off as we go to commercial break.

In-Ring: Bayley, Lyra Valkyria

We head to ringside as we see Bayley with a microphone, asking for Lyra to come out. When she does, Bayley hands a microphone to her former tag partner. She asks if Valkyria will say anything, saying she brought her out here because she thought there would be an apology. Lyra says Bayley should be apologizing to her for holding her back for the past year.

She mocks Bayley about her friends always betraying her, and maybe if she wasn’t so obsessed with her past friendships and failures she would take care of her problems. She stops Bayley from talking as she says every good thing she’s given Bayley has been a lie. She’s never deserved to be on the posters, and she’s always been the worst of the Four Horsewomen. Bayley says she should’ve realized this was a mistake, telling Lyra she’s saying all of this to the first Women’s Grand Slam winner. She talks about her accolades before saying she’ll add “beating Lyra’s a– inside Madison Square Garden” to that list.

Lyra blindsides her when Bayley starts to talk away, laying into her before dropping Bayley with a belly-to-belly slam. She stands over Bayley, mocking her as commentary talks up Saturday Night’s Main Event in New York City.

We get a look back at John Cena’s matches during his “heel turn,” in a preview of the return of WWE: Unreal premiering July 21.

We then take a look at the next part of the history between Rollins and Reigns, focusing on the break-up of The Shield. Tonight, they sign the contract for their World Heavyweight Championship bout at SummerSlam!

Back at ringside, Dominik Mysterio makes his way to the ring with JD McDonagh accompanying him. He’s a part of the WWE Intercontinental Championship No. 1 Contender’s Gauntlet, and that match is up next! …

Back at ringside, Joe Hendry makes his entrance as we get this WWE Intercontinental Championship No. 1 Contender’s Gauntlet underway!

Mysterio and Hendry getting this gauntlet started as they trade holds until Joe takes control. Dom rolls out of the ring as he looks for a timeout, but he gets slammed against the announce table instead. He continues going after Dom until Mysterio launches him into the ring steps with a heavy thud. He rolls into the ring to break the ref’s count before bringing Hendry back into the ring for a nearfall.

Mysterio continues the attack as he sends Hendry into the opposite corner with a hammer throw. Joe starts to fight back before Dom goes for a tornado DDT…but Hendry blocks it before dropping him to the mat! He sends Dom into the ropes for a flying forearm, and both men hit the ropes before Joe catches Mysterio for a fall away slam. He poses for the crowd before setting up for a Standing Ovation…but JD distracts him, allowing Mysterio to send Hendry into the ropes for a 619! He goes up top for a frog splash and gets the win.

First Elimination: Joe Hendry via Pinfall.

Out next is Je’Von Evans, a bouncy boy looking to advance in this gauntlet match as we move to commercial break.

Back from break we hear that Evans was attacked and sent out of the ring by Mysterio, but he is already bouncing back as he sends the former champ to the outside. He brings Dom back in the ring for a spinning roundhouse kick but only gets a two count.

He looks to continue the momentum but McDonagh gets on the apron again, allowing Dom to take Evans to the mat. He goes up top but out comes Danhausen in his Hausenmobile…but his curse brings out pyro from the wrong ring post! JD goes up the ramp to confront Danhausen but seemingly gets shot with a t-shirt cannon as Je’Von hits the OG Cutter on Dom in the ring for the win!

Second Elimination: Dominik Mysterio via Pinfall.

Out comes Dragon Lee, who makes a beeline for the ring. They exchange offense back and forth before sending each other out of the ring as we go to commercial break.

The action spills to the outside as Evans sends Dragon into the timekeeper area, running around the ring for speed to get the jump on him! He brings Lee back into the ring for a springboard attack, but takes a superkick as Lee gets a nearfall. He sends Evans to the outside for a dive before bringing him back into the ring, catching Je’Von with a tornado DDT for a close two count.

Evans back on his feet as they trade strikes. Evans brings Lee to the corner for an OG Cutter but Dragon blocks it, setting him up for a double stomp on the turnbuckle. He brings Evans to the middle of the ring, only to be cradled tight by Je’Von for the win!

Third Elimination: Dragon Lee via Pinfall.

Je’Von pulls Dragon up for a handshake as Rusev’s music hits, but the Bulgarian Brute blindsides Evans and shoves him into Lee, sending the latter out of the ring as we go to commercial break.

Evans tries to get back into it but is sent into the corner by Rusev, only for Je’Von to roll him up for a one count. Evans starts to get some shots in before going for a sunset flip. Aloha Rusev says NO as he drops down on Je’Von for a nearfall. Evans sends Rusev to the outside before hitting the ropes for a dive, struggling as he brings Rusev back into the ring. He connects with a Red Dot for the cover, but only gets a two count.

Evans gets to the corner looking for another, but gets dropped hard by Rusev…who locks in the Accolade! Je’Von crawls toward the ropes looking for the break, but gets pulled back in as Rusev cinches it in tighter. Just when it looks like he’s about to fade, Evans manages to get to his feet with Rusev still on his back…and drops the Bulgarian Brute to the mat!

It doesn’t take long for Rusev to regain control, however, eventually locking the hold back in. Evans starts to fire himself back up once more…and then fades, as the ref calls for the bell.

Fourth Elimination: Je’Von Evans via Referee Stoppage.

Out comes Chad Gable, who immediately takes the fight to Rusev. Rusev blocks a Chaos Theory but gets caught with a belly to belly suplex, as Gable goes up top only to be dropped hard by Rusev for a two count as we go to commercial.

The two fight it out in the corner as Gable blocks a superplex, landing some headbutts to send Rusev to the canvas. Flying clothesline sends Rusev down hard as Gable struggles to his feet. Both men are up as they trade strikes until Gable goes for an Olympic Slam. Rusev breaks free, taking Chad down to lock in the Accolade!

Gable starts to break free until Rusev goes after his eyes, but this allows Chad to finally break free as he sends Rusev into the turnbuckle with a German suplex! Rusev tries to fight back but is cradled by Gable for the win!

Fifth Elimination: Rusev via Pinfall.

Rusev is a sore loser as he gets back up to cinch in the Accolade as Ethan Page makes his way to the ring. Rusev finally breaks the hold, leaving the ring to wish Page luck before leaving. Page looks for an easy pin but only gets two. He gets mad at Gable, telling him to stay down and make this easy for him as he continues to beat the man down.

Gable fights back with a German suplex, starting to fight back until Page takes him back to the mat hard. Gable turns it around as he first cinches in an ankle lock and then hits an Olympic Slam on All Ego, but it’s only good for a two count as well.

Page is back up as he brings Gable to the corner, looking for an avalanche body slam…but Gabe fights out of it before putting on the ankle lock! Page has nowhere to go and he taps out as the ref calls for the bell!

Winner: Chad Gable via Submission.

Chad celebrates the win as Penta enters the ring to shake his hand, the two set to face off at SummerSlam for the title.

Commentary hypes up Saturday Night’s Main Event and the next episode of Cody Rhodes’s podcast featuring Tom Brady, and then we take a look back at another main event for SummerSlam as CM Punk defends the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Show Card Rundown

Commentary hypes Saturday Night’s Main Event as I keep wondering how much longer this show is gonna go on, and I’m about to get my answer when we head back to ringside.

In-Ring: Adam Pearce, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins

Raw GM Adam Pearce is out here with the table and chairs, ready to “make it official” as he first welcomes Roman Reigns to the ring.

Roman makes his way out, a big reaction for the OTC as he heads to the ring. “Roman, Roman Reigns” chant as the champ tells them to acknowledge him. He goes to take a seat as Seth Rollins makes his entrance next, do doubt bringing us five minutes past the usual runtime just to get this segment started.

Rollins enters the ring, posing as the crowd continue to sing along with his theme song. He takes a seat right next to his old friend and rival, bringing the contract over to him so he can sign it right away. He turns it over to Reigns as he grabs a mic, only for the crowd to keep singing along. They quiet down as Rollins says it must hurt when the sweet melodies of his song drown out those OTC chants, purposely extending this segment as the crowd is divided into following suit.

Rollins says few things are certain: death, taxes, and Seth Rollins beating Roman Reigns every single time. He tells Roman to sign the contract, but Roman is looking it over as the crowd continues singing. Roman says he wishes the crowd was doing this last week as Seth came out and bored everyone. It’s established that Seth Rollins is the Tribal Chief’s number one hater, and that makes him…he stops when the crowd chants “he’s a hater.”

The sad thing is, he’s laughing about it but that’s the only thing he’s number one at. That’s what he hates the most is, Seth has these people confused that the two of them are on the same level…and nothing could be further from the truth. That’s why at SummerSlam, he’s going to show them they’re on different levels, and at SummerSlam he’ll show Seth what number one looks like. With that, Roman signs the contract.

Seth offers the contract and says there you have it, running Roman down as he thanks him for keeping the title warm for him and he will see Reigns the next time he wants to show up for work. Seth leaves the ring, walking up the ramp as Roman mocks him for walking away. Let’s play your game, Seth, let’s ask the question: what happens if you beat me at SummerSlam and you win the title?

Are you gonna hold it for a couple months and then get injured again? Because, Roman says, that’s what happens every single time. Some would call it self-sabotage since Rollins can’t handle the pressure of being out here and being champ. This riles up Seth enough to come back to the ring, standing off with Reigns. He tells Roman if he’s got something to say, say it. He’s not going anywhere, he’s right here, say it.

Roman will say it since everyone is thinking it. You wanna know how he knows Seth is number two? Because he always needs to hold the Money in the Bank briefcase to win the thing. Last time he needed to fake an injury to cash it in. He talks about Triple H’s “work daddy” Triple H running the place, and how they keep giving Roman’s stuff to Seth.

He’s always going to be number two, Roman is always going to be number one, and he needs Seth to acknowledge it b—h. Seth is angry but keeps a level of control as he asks Roman if that’s all he’s got. Tell him how Seth is never gonna be as important as Roman. At some point, Seth had to see himself in the mirror and remind himself that he’s proud of what he is. Because he is a Visionary, he is a revolutionary, he is Seth freakin’ Rollins…and he is so glad he’s not Roman. Reigns scoffs at this but is blindsided with a right hand by Seth, who stomps away at the champ in the corner!

He lays some more shots into Roman as he asks him where his Bloodline is, saying he knows who he is. He backs off, starting to leave the ring before seeing an opening for a stomp…only to run into a Superman Punch by the OTC! Roman looks for a powerbomb on Rollins, who hits him in the head with a microphone to break free. He lands a Pedigree on the champ before going to the corner…where he lays out the OTC with a stomp!

Rollins stands tall over Reigns as his music plays, the crowd singing along once more as Raw comes to a close.
