A recent episode of the AEW Close Up with Renee Paquette show featured TBS Champion Hikaru Shida as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Shida’s thoughts about her biggest dream goal for AEW being the company holding an event in Japan in the future.
“There are so many things I want to do. I want to wrestle all over the world, especially CMLL. I wrestled for CMLL [a] long, long time ago. I loved it so much, so I really want to go back there. This is my big dream, but — not Forbidden Door — AEW show in Japan. That’s my big, big, big dream.”
Shida also gave her thoughts about competing in AEW’s first All In event in 2023 and how she originally had been content to retire from wrestling after her match but changed her mind after feeling that she could still do more.
“So the first time we had All In at London, Actually, I was there as champion. I felt that was my climax of my career. So I felt I could retire after that, and after I finished the match, I just felt I can do it more. That’s what I felt. At the moment, my goal was be there. Now I know I can’t satisfy just be there. I need to win. I can imagine with this title, hold this belt so high in the middle of the ring. After the match, I was like, the best is Shida, and (the) whole people scream with me.”
Shida also gave her thoughts about her leaving her acting career for a pro wrestling career and her praise of Emi Sakura for being a “genius” as a teacher and trainer for her career.
“After that, I had, I had to ask Emi Sakura because she was my teacher. So I had to ask, please let me, let me keep doing wrestling because before I watched the movie, I already decided when I’m going to quit. Yeah, she was great as a person. I- the first impression I felt, I never can be friends with her, but as a teacher, as a teacher, she was kind of (a) genius, I think.”
